POSITION: Research Associate
DUTY STATION: Country Office / Freetown
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY
- Do and participate in designing quantitative and qualitative studies; and lead implementation of research projects with analytic supports from and with principal investigator
- Ensure good ethical practice and research governance; manage and facilitate research focusing on quality data collection, cleaning and analysis and dissemination of information gained throughout the research projects
- Maintain action plans of research projects by maintaining record systems for the projects. Monitor the progress of the study to ensure compliance with and adherence to the project plan, budget, and to identify, evaluate and rectify problems
- Write reports and policy briefs for administration to facilitate management decision-making
- Presentation of the research at appropriate local, regional, national and international meetings and conferences
- Work hand in hand with data manager to maintain database of quality data in preparation for publishing through various dissemination and feedback ways to Programs and the outside world
- Create and maintain good working relations with other institutional researchers and stakeholders
- Train and manage field supervisors and enumerators; and supervise data collection; facilitate staff capacity building
- Coordinate with donor, research and programme partners in planning, budgeting, implementing, data analysis and reporting of study results
- Participating in data analysis and final research report writing
- Project/studies running and completed as planned
- Reports, working papers, policy notes produced
- Quality data ensured for data analysis
- Participating in designing quality research proposals including literature review, research objectives, and good methodology
- Disseminating seminars/workshops/conferences organized for Programmes and other stakeholders
- Successful, well-targeted projects in line with program protocol of each research ensuring minimum attrition
- Team building based on BRAC values and good relationship with BRAC programmes and other stakeholders.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & COMPETENCIES:
- Good knowledge/skill in mix methods of research – quantitative, RCT, qualitative
- Experienced and skilled in data analysis and interpretation of data
- Knowledge of computer analysis packages such as STATA, NVivo, Atlas ti, SPSS
- Knowledge of digital data management like ODK/Survey CTO, recorders, is added advantage
- Capacity to manage the technical, logistical aspects of several research projects
- Advanced writing skills for research proposals and reports
- Advanced written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Statistics or any other related subject.
Certificate in research methodology –study designs, data analysis is added advantage.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least 1-2 years of experience in research and evaluation, data analysis, statistics, research communication, development management, or research capacity on related issues.
