WFP has commenced a global search for its next Director (D2) of Evaluation reporting to the Executive Director based in the WFP headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Director of Evaluation provides global leadership, sets standards, and maintains oversight of WFP’s entire evaluation function. The Director will bring the greatest value to the WFP and its stakeholders by:
- Strengthening and supporting WFP’s evaluation culture, capacity and systems in collaboration with WFP’s Executive Management Group and other leadership bodies in the WFP;
- Leading WFP’s engagement in the international evaluation system and professional networks to ensure evaluation in WFP reflects and contributes to international best practices;
- Implementing and elaborating on the newly-approved Evaluation Policy (wfp-evaluation-policy-2016-2021) to embed into WFP’s culture broader systems of accountability and learning
Key characteristics of the ideal candidate will include:
- At least 15 years of outstanding leadership, strategic visioning, change management and delivery, communication and influencing skills demonstrated in overseeing evaluation in progressively responsible roles in both evaluation and management of large, complex, international development organizations, preferably in the UN System;
- State of the art knowledge of evaluation principles and methods as discussed and formulated in professional groups;
- Excellent interpersonal, networking and partnership skills to work in harmony with multiple cultures, government officials, heads of other UN agencies and multilateral institutions;
- Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another UN language.
