Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor

As an Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, you will conduct research and analysis of strategic terrorism and counterterrorism issues. You will support a range of research efforts, and duties will include quantitative and/or qualitative research as well as writing. You will also teach cadet classes at the four-year undergraduate college as part of the CTC's Terrorism Studies Program.
About the Organization:
The CTC is a terrorism and counterterrorism research center located within the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point which is commutable from New York City. Situated at the nexus of theory and practice, the CTC serves as an import­ant national resource that provides pol­icy-relevant research, while equipping present and future leaders with the in­tellectual tools necessary to defeat ter­rorist threats. The CTC’s distinguished scholars, international network of ex­perts, and access to senior leaders set it apart from any other like enterprises.
Qualifications:
Applicants will be evaluated on the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1) Academic accomplishments (a graduate degree in security studies, political science, or a related field; teaching experience in this field is preferred);
2) Research accomplishments in respective discipline relevant to political violence and counter terrorism;
3) Communication skills; and,
4) Administrative experience (preferred candidate will have a proven track record managing budgets, research projects, and conferences).
This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service starting in the fall/winter of 2016. The initial term is 13 months. Opportunity for extension beyond the original 13 month appointment exists based on performance. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, and retirement. You will also earn annual leave and sick leave.
