IPU is looking for an experienced and talented web professional, who will project
manage the design and development of the Events section and additional features
for the new IPU website and a document management system for the Organization.
A highly-organized and strong team player with excellent technical skills and
knowledge, the Online Communications Project Manager will have solid experience
in web project management and demonstrated ability in successfully working with
clients and service providers to build dynamic user-centered and responsive features
and online tools.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Online Communications Project
Manager will be expected to propose ideas, devise solutions for the IPU website and
document management system, and to ensure the scope and objectives of the
project are delivered on time and within budget.
Tasks will include:
Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic direction of the
new IPU website together with the Director of Communications and Senior Web
Editor;
Manage suitable service-providers in the design and construction of the events
section for the new IPU website and online tools to manage documents; provide
technical inputs to the negotiation of contracts; develop effective working
relations with service-providers during the project design and build;
Work closely with IPU staff in ensuring project objectives are met;
Help identify most appropriate technologies for IPU’s online needs and
objectives;
Project manage the development of the Events section and additional features
for the IPU website and a document management system and coordinate the
integration between the two platforms;
Oversee the content migration process;
Take the necessary technical decisions to ensure the scope and objectives of
the project are delivered on time and within budget;
Manage the web budget;
Keep up-to-date with emerging web technologies and ICT developments and
provide advice to IPU;
Track and report on all site metrics;
Organize regular meetings of IPU’s Web Steering Group to ensure internal
communication on the project;
Manage the positioning of the site on different search engines;
Ensure responsive and cost-effective post-build maintenance and support
services are in place.
