Primary School Manager/Assistant Field Manager
help2kids is looking for a motivated candidate for the role of Primary School Manager and Acting Manager. Gain great experience working with a small NGO in Tanzania!
help2kids is a young, dynamic organization located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city, which is situated on the Indian Ocean and in Lifuwu, a small village on Lake Malawi in Malawi. We help orphans by providing food, shelter, and lots of love at our children's home. We help the community by providing support to local primary and nursery schools. We promote sustainable development and socially responsible tourism by feeding the profits from our guest houses in back into our projects.
We are currently seeking a Primary School Manager to help with our Bajeviro Primary School. This is a great position for someone who is passionate about children and NGO work, and who is interested in gaining experience in the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage teacher and staff at Primary School. Assemble and lead weekly meetings
  • Manage accounting and budgets
  • Advocate on behalf of Primary School needs, including receiving and collecting donations, seeking additional fundraising through research, networking, and proposal and grant writing
  • Create and implement new and ever-improving curriculum with teachers and staff in order to increase grade and performance within the Primary School
  • Lead new program ideas through-out the year for Primary School staff and students
  • Maintain good communicative relationships with current partners, parents, shareholders, and donors
  • Assist and lead teacher workshops for teaching practices and
  • Manage all project development, including construction projects, curriculum development, teacher workshops, and donor relationships
  • Act as Acting Leader for all Tanzanian projects when Field Manager is out of country (Assistant Field Manager)
Qualifications:
  • Minimum B.A. degree, preferred in Education, Early Childhood Development, or other related degree
  • At least 1 year of management experience, preferably with an international staff
  • Solid understanding of Int'l development in the education sector
  • In classroom teaching experience highly desired
  • Experience in East Africa
  • A passion for working with children and youth
  • Ability to work with limited resources in a sometimes challenging environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to chip in where needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Work well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
  • Work well with team of local staff, foreign staff and international volunteers
  • Be willing to work odd hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Previous experience working with children required
Commitment of one year required
