‘An experienced IT project manager with experience in rolling out technology systems and structures in low resource settings’
Can’t Wait to Learn
Can’t Wait to Learn Can’t Wait to Learn (CWtL) proposes new (cost-) effective solutions to the urgent challenges facing education for children in emergencies. By utilising innovative technological solutions with a focus on serious gaming, CWtL builds on concepts which have been successfully piloted in Sudan (e-Learning Sudan) has ambitions to increase the number of children with access to quality education in mathematics in areas affected by conflict in Africa and the Middle East, specifically Lebanon and Jordan. In addition, reading and psychosocial well-being –focused materials will be introduced to the CWtL portfolio during 2016. Developing fresh, interactive materials based on the national curricula, and creating effective partnership structures to distribute these, creates new opportunities for making education accessible to those children who have been excluded from education. Thus, increasing children’s resilience and thereby, preparing them for a positive future.

Responsibilities
You lead the development and implementation of the research plan that focuses on determining the technical core of the Can’t Wait to Learn programme, namely:
  • Establishing which technology, products and services are required and best suited to achieve both the trial and scale-up goals of the Can’t Wait to Learn programme;
  • Lead the development of appropriate technical specifications for Can’t Wait to Learn products;
  • Developing a plan to roll out the technical system to support the Can’t Wait to Learn programme goals;
  • Roll out the technical system in all countries in which Can’t Wait to Learn is operational for both the current trials and upcoming scale-up phases.
    Outputs
  • Robust technological infrastructure and requirements plan, with a cost-effective and context appropriate roll-out plan globally, and per implementation country;
  • Appropriate technology infrastructure rolled out in CWTL implementation locations.
    Required skills and experience
  • Relevant tertiary level education in Information Technology, Computer Science or related IT discipline;
  • Proven ability to develop and rollout appropriate, sustainable and cost effective technology systems and structures in low resource settings;
  • Strong project management skills and experience, e.g. overseeing IT projects, writing /reviewing project plans, reporting project status and organizing meetings and demos;
  • A strong ability to conduct market analysis to identify and assess relevant technology partners;
  • Direct experience in working in CWTL implementation countries or similar contexts in development aid and / or technology programmes at senior levels;
  • Significant experience working in multi-partner teams, particularly private / public partnerships;
  • Proven ability to solve problems and leverage appropriate resources to produce quality outcomes;
  • Very strong teamwork and communication skills including presentation preparation and delivery;
  • Strong ability to produce quality work outputs within agreed priorities and to deadlines;
  • Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written;
  • Knowledge of NGO and/or development sector is preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Available as soon as possible for an initial period of six – nine months, with a strong potential for extension based on performance.
