Position: Country Director
Placement: IBIS Country Office in Maputo, Mozambique
Contract period: 24 months, from August 1, 2015.
IBIS is hiring a dynamic and experienced Country Director to lead our programme in Mozambique. Candidates must have a proven track record of senior development management in Africa and fluency in English and Portuguese.
Background
IBIS is a Danish development organization with programs in 9 countries in Latin America and Africa. IBIS' focus is education and democracy. We work through projects and advocacy at the national and international level to create equal access to education, power and resources for the poor and marginalized. IBIS is engaging with the private sector with a focus on education and job creation.
****Key responsibilities of the Country Director include****
- Lead and manage the program in Mozambique with focus on achievement of results and effectiveness.
- Overall financial responsibility for the programme, fund administration and fundraising.
- Staff management and development.
- Position IBIS well towards international donors.
- Coordinate and cooperate with relevant stakeholders in Mozambique incl. national and international NGOs, authorities and the private sector.
- Work with IBIS Head Office in Denmark in an open and dynamic manner to develop the program continuously.
- Guide the exploration phase for IBIS affiliation with Oxfam International in Mozambique, and possible implementation of same.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
The successful candidate should have:
- University degree in Social Science, Political/International Development studies, Law or similar.
- Knowledge and experience in relevant development practices and methodologies, incl. monitoring and evaluation and program development.
- Competences in financial management, human resource management and development.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment where people are included and things get done.
- A minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience, out of which at least 5 years at management level.
- Experience from post-conflict/fragile situations, including handling crises and security situations.
- Proven experience in fundraising, advocacy and donor negotiations.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese a requirement, and ability to communicate in Danish an advantage.

Terms and conditions
Initial contract period: August 2015 – July 2017 (2 years).
The location of the post is in Maputo with a number of travels to other regions of Mozambique.
