Contract Duration: 06 months only with possibility of extension

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Engineer MMU Team Leader the Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for providing the necessary technical expertise for the project implementation ensuring compliance of quality control plans, materials, test procedures, specifications and work methodologies. S/he will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities;
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Purpose and Scope of Assignment
 The continuous inspection of progress, quantity and materials used in comparison to available data;
 Conducting monthly health checks to ensure the project is on track;
 Ensure specific quality standards are constantly met at all levels of construction projects
 Review contractor practices and conventional methodologies and make recommendations where remedial action is required
 Tracking and reporting all non-conformances to the supervisor
 Ensure that all construction materials (steel, cement, sand, and gravel) are sourced by the contractor from the approved vendors.
 During inspection of each site, monitor and collect appropriate field data to validate contractors’ compliance to time frames and measurements of work on site;
 Any other business as directed by supervisor
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education
 Master degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline; a bachelor degree with additional years of relevant work experience, may substitute for the requirement for a Master degree.
Work Experience
 Minimum 10 years of demonstrable experience of undertaking measurements in a construction
environment.
 Experience of construction procedures and methods in the Middle East.
 Adept at understanding construction drawings and able to measure and take off accurately.
 Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined, multi-cultural team.
 Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
 Able to read a construction programme and relevance of the critical path (desirable).
 Understanding of Health & Safety issues at work and on site
Key Competencies
 Professionalism: Strong analytical and organisational skills; Eye for detail and accuracy; Experience with database software/web applications; The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines; Up-todate knowledge of technology and the Data Protection Act; Ability to work well in a fast paced environment, where the technology is constantly changing.
 Client Orientation: Ability to identify and analyse client security needs and develop solution specificationsto meet business requirements.
 Communications: Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise manner. Ability to formulate detailed technical reports.
 Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations with people in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Languages
 Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Arabic is an advantage.
