The Internship
The internship is with The Hague Secretariatof the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) in The Netherlands. The Hague Progamme Intern will be supervised by the Programme Assistant, and will assist with the preparations of the upcoming session of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), which will take place from 18 until 26 November 2015 in The Hague, The Netherlands.
The CICC coordinates the activities of NGOs during the ASP, where vital decisions on the functioning of the ICC will be made. With hundreds of representatives, NGOs make up the largest delegation at the ASP. The Hague Programme intern will also assist in other various administrative and research capacities as needed in the office. This internship will be full-time, starting as soon as possible until December 2015.
Responsibilities include
- Assisting in ASP logistics: NGO Accreditation, Staff participation;
- Assisting in coordinating events surrounding the ASP;
- Taking notes and minutes of meetings;
- Providing support with preparing documents, letter writing, and translations.
Responsibilities may also include
- Conducting membership outreach, including updating the membership database;
- Updating and maintaining contacts database;
- Undertaking special research projects and assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Fluency in written and spoken English; fluency in other European languages, especially Dutch and French, is an asset;
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student working towards a degree in Law, International Relations, History, Political Science, Area Studies or related field;
- Knowledge of and interest in the ICC and international law;
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software;
- Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines;
- Excellent research and writing skills;
- Cultural sensitivity;
Remuneration
Please note that this is an unpaid internship and the CICC cannot cover associated transportation or accommodation costs. We recommend all prospective candidates to seek financial assistance from their academic institutions or seek outside fellowships, grants and personal resources. The CICC cannot sponsor individuals applying for internships to help them obtain visas.
