****Head of Health Systems Support Unit****
The main tasks of the Head of the Health Systems Support Unit include:
- Manage a unit consisting of a team of 15 collaborators in Basel and of around 30 project collaborators abroad with an annual turn-over in the range of CHF 12 million
- Oversee, plan and coordinate long-term health sector support projects in the area of health systems strengthening, health financing and evidence for policy-making
- Further develop the profile and short- and long-term mandates of the unit through identifying and sustaining new business opportunities and fields
The jobholder reports to the head of the Swiss Centre for International Health. He/she will be a member of the departmental leadership team.
The position is based in Basel, Switzerland. To best fit into our active, multidisciplinary team we expect the following qualifications:
- Minimum of ten years working experience in the management of health sector support programs in at least one of the following fields: health systems strengthening, health planning and management, health financing and economics, evidence for policy-making
- Academic background in public health science and/or health management; preferably at doctorate level.
- Track record in business development and consulting
- Experience in leadership and staff management
- Minimum of three years working experience in low- and middle income countries
- Willingness to travel abroad
- Excellent command of English and of at least one more language (French/Spanish)
- Excellent communication skills, strong spirit of team work and initiative, and ability to work in a multi-cultural context
