Communication senior intern

by Unknown  |  at  3:44 PM

This offer is only open to people eligible to the Eurodyssée mechanism, i.e. residing or studying in one the regions member of the program, except France (e.g. Wallonie, Bruxelles, Catalonia, Valencia, Jura, Valais, Val d'Aoste, etc.).
CartONG is a French NGO, specialized in mapping and information management services for the humanitarian sector. We provide to NGOs and international organizations the tools they require to better plan and monitor their activities and measure their impact.

Missions

The intern will be supporting CartONG’s team on various aspects of the communication of the NGO.
The association is currently growing up, which has induced a will to improve its communication, in particular with a global update of the website. The technical part of this update has been started by the employees of the NGO, however this transition will also require adapting the internal communication policy. The intern will be responsible for supporting CartONG’s team in defining this new policy, implementing it, and make it evolve based on feedback received. He will participate too by writing news, projects/missions descriptions, and blog posts.
CartONG will also organize during the Fall of 2015 a new NOMAD workshop (http://humanitarian-nomad.org/), an event aimed at informing the humanitarian community on mobile technologies. The conference will take place in the Middle East (Lebanon or Jordan) and gather around 100 participant from international NGOs. The intern will support the NOMAD team (CartONG & partners iMMAP and Solidarités International) in the overall organization of the workshop: communication, invitations, designing the contents, logistics, etc.
Besides, the activities of the volunteers of CartONG are also growing up, with 3 field missions achieved this year. However, the skills and available time of volunteers for communication and reporting are still limited. The intern will support the volunteers on these aspects, both by writing/editing contents, and by defining a sustainable set-up for communication on volunteers’ activities (procedures definition, writing tutorials, etc.). Depending on his interests, skills and the time available, the intern may also support directly various volunteers’ projects (project management, communication, fundraising).
Finally, CartONG wishes to use the re-shaping of its website to update several material communication tools (flyer, portfolio), the intern can contribute to it.

Conditions

Local transport costs covered by the association. Potential travel to the location of the NOMAD workshop (Amman/Beirut) if the funding and security conditions allow it. Possibility to help in finding a housing.
CartONG’s headquarters are located in Chambéry, in the center of the Alps, near the mountains (Charteuse, Bauges…) and the Bourget Lake. 1h20 from Geneva and Lyon (international airports), 3h from Paris.

Requirements

Education level: Master’s degree
Training: Communication or social sciences (international relations, humanitarian affairs)
Experience: at least one previous experience in the field of communication/advocacy. An experience in the humanitarian field will be appreciated.
Language skills: Excellent level of English(oral and written) is paramount. Basic French for daily communications required (possibility to follow French classes). Arabic would be an asset.
