INTERSOS, in the framework of its activities in Somalia,is selecting candidates for the position of:
JOB TITLE: Education/Child Protection Project Manager
DUTY STATION: Mogadishu with frequent travel to Baidoa and Nairobi
Starting Date:1st of October 2015
Duration:until the 30th of November 2016
ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager guarantees the correct overall management of the assigned project, management of budget and personnel, and he ensures the realization of the activities of the project activities in Baidoa and Jowhar Districts.
Specifically the Project Manager is responsible to:
- Ensure strong technical approach to reintegration of Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups (CAAFAG) and children at risk of recruitment based on child protection principles, promoting the rights of the child and child-centered approach.
- Create and maintain collaboration with important stakeholders, including the LNGO and government authorities;
- Ensure regular staff supervision, field visits and action-oriented feedback for monitoring and evaluation, adherence to accountability procedures and documentation, as well as technical guidelines and INTERSOS child protection, data protection policy and procedures;
- Develop the project procurement plan and financial plans on a quarterly basis. Develop monthly financial requests with the field teams and ensure that project expenditure is liquidated in a timely manner according to the financial plan and agreed funds disbursement plan by ECHO;
- Participate in the CPWG and Education Cluster at national level and ensure coordination.
- Conduct training and mentoring of the INTERSOS field staff on use of the CPIMS and GBVIMS;
- Organize and conduct training on GBV in emergencies, GBV mainstreaming & developing SOPs for field co-chairs/focal points and active members;
- Conduct protection and gender action planning/review workshops with the field cluster focal points/coordinators based on action plans developed as part of the GBV mainstreaming training;
- Actively participate in the GBV WG at national level and support GBV staff in each field to proactively and effectively participate in the GBVWG;
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ø Social Science, Community Development, Psychology or Social Work degree and/or equivalent practical field experience, preferably with a humanitarian organisation;
Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience in Education in Emergency and in Child Protection programming, technical focus on mainstreaming with other clusters, emergency response is required;
Ø Demonstrated experience supporting field operations management is required;
Ø Good interpersonal skills to work effective with different stakeholders including different communities in the target areas, humanitarian actors, service providers, local and national authorities;
Ø Excellent organisational, teambuilding and participatory training skills and experience is required, as well as ability to work as part of a team;
Ø Project Management skills, including financial planning and documentation;
Ø Fluency in written and spoken English, good reporting writing and communication skills is required;
Ø Good problem solving and social skills and creative, to think of alternative solutions;
Ø Computer literate (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access);
Ø Gender-sensitive and advocate for women, children and minority rights;
Ø Ability to travel frequently to different areas in Somalia working in stressful situations and at times, in hardship field locations.
