Division Head - Investor Relations & Marketing
The term of this contract will be 3 years
The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract subject to organizational requirements and individual performance
Purpose : To organise, lead and motivate the Investor Relations & Marketing Division (IR) team (7 employees) whose main responsibilities are to set and implement strategy of global debt marketing, green bond marketing and market development, as well as rating agency and credit analyst coverage.
Operational network:
Internal contacts : Reports to the Director of Capital Markets (FI/CAP) and cooperates closely within the Capital Markets Department, in addition extensive work with other parts of the Finance Directorate (FI), as well as with Risk Management Directorate (RM) and for Financial Control, Projects, Financing/Operations, Legal Services, Communications and Corporate Responsibility Departments.
External contacts include: Dealers, investors, rating agencies, research and index providers, self-regulatory and trade bodies including the Green Bond Principles and ICMA, public authorities including the European Commission, financial media and conference organisations, NGOs with capital markets activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop the investor relations strategy in support of funding activities and the bank’s credit standing. Address short, medium and long term issues in an effective and efficient way.
- Work with the Department Head to develop and implement the IR strategy and efficiently manage resources.
- Key workflows:
- Ratings and credit research: Manage/oversee rating agency and credit analyst relations
- Debt marketing: Manage and contribute to the development and implementation of investor marketing, aligning with best practice
- Green bonds: Promote EIB green bonds and contribute to developing market materials on green bonds and climate action, including updates of impact reporting
- CRM and data management: Maintain effective reporting and data systems to support funding activities and marketing efficiency
- Other marketing : Support press relations, oversee website and social media presence
- Manage staff within the Division to ensure appropriate objectives and drive motivation to deliver results.
- Support the Capital Markets Director and Director General of Finance (FI) in relations with the EIB’s Management Committee, other Directorates and external counterparts on IR matters.
- Ensure effective communication and internal co-operation within the Division, across FI and with other services in the Bank.
- Represent the Bank on roadshows, at seminars and conferences and at relevant market committees/working groups.
- Manage or participate in special FI initiatives that can go beyond the strict boundaries of IR domain.
Key technical/professional knowledge and skills
- University degree, preferably in business, finance or economics. Further post-graduate studies or studies towards professional qualifications in finance would be highly appreciated.
- At least 10 years relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: IR, debt capital markets, origination, sales, research, debt marketing, credit research.
- Excellent knowledge of capital markets and associated instruments. In particular solid understanding of bond markets and credit analysis, basic knowledge of derivatives, plus familiarity with trends in responsible investment, notably green bonds.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, significant experience of working with investors, financial media, rating agencies and the investment banking community.
- Proven track record in the development of strategy and management, including aptitude for developing and utilising CRM (customer relationship management / database) systems.
- Successful experience in managing and coaching people ideally in multicultural environments or international organisations (e.g. contribution to: determining team resources and skills; establishing objectives; assessing performance; delegating and supervising tasks; guiding, motivating, coaching and providing feedback).
- Familiarity with financial information systems such as Bloomberg, Reuters
- Excellent knowledge of English and at least a working knowledge of French*. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
