Leading major complex projects, working with us would provide you with the opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of everyone in the UK while benefitting from an exciting professional opportunity.
Our Project Directors have the opportunity to take the lead on a wide variety of different projects, focusing on any sector of the economy and supporting our mission of making markets work well for consumers and business. Projects that fall within the CMA’s remit including detailed reviews of markets (such as the recent reviews into the energy and retail banking sectors), merger assessments (such as last year’s review of the BT merger with EE), and enforcing competition and consumer law, as well as leading reviews of the decisions of sectoral regulators.

You will ensure that projects are managed effectively and fairly, with clear accountability and high levels of professionalism throughout. You will offer clear advice and direction to colleagues and engage proactively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will instil confidence in our work by ensuring that recommendations are evidence-based, well-reasoned and consistent with the CMA’s objectives and policies.
You should be able to demonstrate a high level of analytical acumen and the ability to devise effective solutions to complex and strategic issues, as well as sound project management skills. We expect you to have a track record of leading multi disciplinary projects and teams and to be confident liaising and influencing at a senior level. Previous experience in the competition, consumer or regulatory areas would be valuable but is not essential.
