Deputy Chief of Party, Rwanda
We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for the anticipated USDA-funded Food for Education project in Rwanda. The project’s primary focus will be to improve the literacy and health and dietary practice of school aged children. The Deputy Chief of Party will lead the technical components of the project activities. This key position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief of Party in attaining project goals and objectives by providing technical advice and direction, and administrative oversight
- Address priorities related to improving literacy and nutrition
- Provide major oversight for the proposed project activities
- Assist with management of relationships with local organizations, private sector stakeholders, and government bodies
- Prepare/assist in preparation of periodic written and oral reports to USDA and ACDI/VOCA headquarters
- Review of all financial and logistical information on a periodic basis
- Ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables
- Contribution to work plans, financial, logistical, and other documents
- Ensure effective cooperative agreement management, reporting, communications and relationship management with USDA
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Literacy Education or Food Science and Human Nutrition or related field
- At least 8 years of work experience in managing and implementing education/literacy and /or health project activities in development projects, with demonstrated management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of public and private institutions in Rwanda relevant to the project scope
- Demonstrated managerial, administrative, reporting, and representational skills
- Ability to establish a broad variety of professional relationships in project interest
- Proven record of achieving project objectives in a context of similar scope and challenges
- Fluency in English is required
