Team Leaders: access to Justice programmes in South Sudan

About the project
The British Council anticipates commencing the implementation of a number of donor-funded programmes in the area of access to justice in South Sudan. Through these programmes we will collaborate with a range of state and non-state stakeholders, and there will be a particular focus on women and girls.
About the role
We are seeking expressions of interest from team leaders for these programmes.
Team leaders will lead the programme management teams and will be responsible for the vision, direction, detailed management and delivery of the programmes, as well as co-ordination of the country project teams, collaboration and liaison with national and state actors, and representation of the programmes at an institutional level with the Government of South Sudan and the donor community.
Required qualifications and experience
  • Educated to postgraduate level in law, political or social sciences, or any other relevant discipline
  • At least ten years’ experience of working in fragile and/or conflict affected states
  • Long-term experience of working in conflict prevention, peace and state building, security and justice
  • Ability to work strategically and provide leadership and direction to meet programme deliverables
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders (state and non-state) and to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • High level of competence in project management, work planning and budget development
  • Good organisational and human resource management skills and experience in managing international and national staff from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Experience of designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems and results frameworks
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of donor rules and regulations, particularly DFID and the European Union.
