Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building Specialist

Chemonics seeks multiple long-term positions for the anticipated USAID-funded Pacific Adaptation Project. This program will focus on climate change adaptation across 12 Pacific island countries (PICs) with the goal of helping countries become more resilient to the negative impacts of climate change. The project will build the capacity of the 12 PICs to develop policy and strategy at the national and regional levels, to adapt to the negative impacts of climate change, to reduce climate-related vulnerabilities, and to increase resilience. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Please submit expressions of interest for:
  1. Institutional strengthening and capacity building specialist
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist PICs to make country-led climate change adaptation policies, procedures, regulations, and activities more coherent and effective
  • Partnerships coordinator
Responsibilities include:
  • Partner with and build capabilities of regional institutions to implement climate change adaptation activities and coordinate with ongoing efforts by other donors and host country organizations
  • Climate change adaptation finance specialist
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist national governments to strengthen the link between climate change adaptation planning and finance, and to make better decisions to improve access to and management of climate change financing
  • Supplemental Technical Assistance Specialist
Responsibilities include:
  • Design activities to quickly respond to unforeseen climate change-related problems
  • Ensure the rapid mobilization of varying expertise to provide technical assistance and training
  • Collaborate with U.S. embassies to engage in policy and strategy dialogues with host countries and regional institutions related to climate change
Qualifications for all positions:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, master's degree preferred
  • Five years professional experience in relevant technical field
  • Experience on USAID or other international donor-funded projects preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Professional fluency in English
