Deputy chief of party

Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Malawi Feed the Future Ag Diversification for Incomes and Nutrition (ADIN) project. The anticipated five-year project will foster inclusive and sustainable growth in Malawi's agricultural sector and improve the nutritional status of women and children under five through a proven nutrition-sensitive approach layering agriculture and nutrition behavior change interventions in rural communities. The project will also increase competitiveness of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural enterprises and increased access to markets and finance. The deputy chief of party will play a leading role in designing and implementing technical interventions to improve value chain productivity and integrate nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall project managerial and technical support to the chief of party
  • Serve as key liaison with USAID, the government of Malawi, stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
  • Create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision in collaboration with team
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
  • ​Advanced degree preferred in agriculture, economics, nutrition, finance, or a related area
  • At least five years of progressively responsible work experience
  • Record of successful delivery of technical assistance
  • Experience with USAID preferred
  • Experience working collaboratively with the government of Malawi, international donors, and local organizations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Fluency in English is required
