Purpose of the post
Under the supervision of the Chief of Field Office, Bor, The incumbent will be accountable for professional technical contribution to project design, planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting, and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with country programme goals and strategy.

- Supporting South Sudan to take measures to institutionalize justice for children and preventive and protective mechanisms for children in contact with the law. Support relevant governmental and non-governmental actors in strengthening Child sensitive justice systems for the protection of boys, girls and young people in contact with the law through advocacy, legal assistance and capacity development;
- Contributing to the strengthening of policy, legislative framework and child protection systems for preventing and responding to violence, abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents;.
- Providing technical support to government partners increase birth registration;.
- Ensure the appropriateness of financial, administrative and supply documentation; verify that Child Protection project expenditures are within allotments and that data is consistent with the project information and database (e.g., FLS, VISION). Follow up on queries or initiate corrective action on discrepancies. Support maintenance of information system for monitoring gender/sex aggregated data.
- Supporting the strengthening of child protection coordination mechanisms for responding to protection needs of children and adolescents affected by conflict and emergencies;
- Supporting interventions to increase the number of children and adolescents affected by landmines and those released from armed forces or groups’ access improved and equitable community based reintegration services.
- Collaborate with Operations staff to implement internal controls systems and resolve day-to-day issues or discrepancies in financial or supply management.
- Team with local Government counterparts to exchange information on Child Protection project implementation and status as well as movement and distribution of supplies.
- Coordinate with members of the development community, including NGOs, UN and bilateral agencies in the exchange of information relating to Child Protection sector.
Minimum qualifications & experience required.
• University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: social sciences, law or child development or other relevant discipline(s). Training in gender and in Child Protection programmes that promote gender equality and asset
• Minimum 2 years progressively responsible professional work experience with Government, UN agencies, private sectors at national/international levels in Child Protection (including in CPIE);.
• Experience in child protection programming, programme management, capacity development, psychosocial and advocacy on behalf of children required (including the Establishment of child friendly spaces and the provision of Community Based Psychosocial Support), Strong knowledge of and experience in prevention of child recruitment and use by armed forces and groups and in the release and reintegration of children associated with armed forces and groups.
Remuneration: An attractive package will be applicable at the UN salary scale including social security benefits.
