Head of Project (m/f), Rehabilitation
in El Fasher, Sudan
The post is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial term ending 31 December 2015, although an extension – depending on financing and performance – is possible. The field location is El Fasher in Northern Darfur, and sometimes Khartoum.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
Welthungerhilfe is carrying out several emergency relief aid projects in Darfur. As Head of Project, you are responsible for coordinating Welthungerhilfe's activities in accordance with the framework specified as regards content, time schedules and finance.
Your most important duties are as follows:
  • represent Welthungerhilfe and coordinate the project concept and planned project activities with local decision-makers and other aid agencies and development organisations operating in the project area
  • identify and review new project ideas
  • ensure orderly financial and material expenses planning
  • ensure the required flow of information and public transparency of the project work within the country of deployment
  • hire, manage and instruct local experts
Your qualifications will include:
  • a university or technical degree in the fields of emergency aid / relief, agrarian economics, rural development, food science, conflict management or a similar area
  • several years' project and management experience in the carrying out of co-financed projects of international (aid) agencies - preferably in the region
  • practical experience in planning and research methods
  • coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
  • cooperation skills and ability to work in a team
  • a very good command of German and English, both spoken and written
