Save the Children
Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children. Thirty member organisations make up Save the Children International, running programmes in over 120 countries, with a staff of more than 17,000. We save children’s lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential.
The Geneva Office
The Geneva Office has a major focus on Advocacy. It currently consists of 12-13 salaried staff and a number of associates/interns. The main goal of the Geneva advocacy function is to create positive change for children by advocating key child rights issues and influencing policy and practice at the global level. This is done by working with and advocating to the United Nations bodies, member states and other organizations based in Geneva. Alongside the advocacy staff, other colleagues work from the Geneva Office in leading roles in fields such as Education and Child Protection.
Local to Global
The Geneva Office provides project management support for the Sida funded advocacy grant, Local To Global. Through the framework of the SCI global campaign, this grant contributes significantly towards building civil society’s and children’s skills and voices to enhance their engagement with decision makers on the implementation of the SDG commitments and national strategies designed for children. The Local to Global approach ensures strong linkages between country offices and our Global Advocacy Offices; providing continuity between our messaging at the local, national and global level. The focus area for all the countries is to ensure their respective governments are on track in prioritising children’s issues, and significantly investing in children left behind; ensuring deprived children are reached in service delivery.
