Overview
Days for Girls is a registered non-governmental organization that is committed to empowering women and communities by promoting access to menstrual health management options and reproductive health knowledge.
The organization utilizes a multipronged approach to achieve its mission. In Uganda, Days for Girls focuses on embedding solutions to challenges created by lack of menstrual health management materials and reproductive health knowledge by partnering with local grassroots organizations and conducting comprehensive training and mentoring programs. Trainings offered include menstrual hygiene & reproductive health education programs, the production and sale of washable menstrual hygiene kits, and enterprise development for women.
Days for Girls International is located in the United States, and Days for Girls Uganda is based in Kampala.
Job Description
Days for Girls Uganda is a small but rapidly growing organization. The Administration & Supply Chain Officer position offers a unique opportunity to join the leadership team of our Uganda staff and help take the impact of Days for Girls to the next level. The Administration & Supply Chain Officer is responsible for overseeing all the finances of Days for Girls and works closely with the Country Director on financial planning for programs and operations. The Administration & Supply Chain Officer also plays a lead role in establishing and maintaining relationships with key supply partners, and tracking of sales & distributions with key customers of our menstrual hygiene products. The Administration & Supply Chain Officer will help to prove the impact of our enterprise model through the development of a strong value chain that helps us meet our triple bottom line: people, place, and profits.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing an organizational or company budget, along with knowledge of supply chain and procurement logistics. The candidate should be detail oriented and business minded, while also maintaining a deep commitment to social justice and public health. Candidates must be able to prioritize tasks, and work well as part of a small, multicultural team.
Duties/Assignments:
Office Administration
· Assist with human resource activities including hiring & dismissal of employees and employee communications such as complaints, contact information changes, or evaluations
· Organize and update electronic and hard-copy filing systems within Administrative Department
· First point of contact for general communications
· Carry out administrative duties as need arises
Financial Planning & Record Keeping
· Manage daily financial transactions including petty cash requests, receipts, reimbursements, and purchases
· Maintain and update financial database & produce regular financial reports
· Coordinate with Days for Girls International finance team and grant-funding partners
· Produce quarterly and annual financial reports which should include: balance sheet, cash flow statement, and income statement
Supply Chain Coordination
· Receive orders from Enterprise partners & customers
· Coordinate with suppliers to get materials needed
· Keep historical record of orders placed
· Organize supply transport
· Ensure safe arrival of materials by training partner organizations
· Produce reports on value chain efficiency and recommendations
· Document value chain model for replication & support of Days for Girls International programs
Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field
· Experience managing a company or organizational budget
· Experience in procurement or supply chain logistics
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Creative and innovative thinker
· Proactive leader
· Ability to prioritize tasks
· Proficient in: All Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
· Preferred: proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
· Ugandan nationals strongly encouraged to apply
