Team building - Consultant

Introduction
Build Africa is an International NGO that has been operational in Uganda since 1996. Build Africa Uganda (BAU) programmes focus on Education and Livelihood improvement. BAU currently works in 13 districts with its field programs coordinated through two Area offices located in Kumi and Masindi.BAU seeks an external consultant(s) or an agency with whom to collaborate in the design and delivery of the one-day team building programme for up to 25 staff and 9 volunteers, 13 female and 21 male. The exercise aims at bringing together the team members from all offices and strengthening team cohesion, spirit, and ability to think and act together. BAU has had a number of staff changes with number of new members joining, hence the need to further strengthen the team.
Expected Output
It is important to note that one full day will be dedicated for team building activities only. There will be no discussion of any programmatic or operational issues. The team building activities will focus on the following objectives:
  • Handling stress
  • Communication
  • Conflict resolution/emotional management
  • working together (with a special focus on working together from two remote locations) as a team
  • Planning for retirement
Recruitment of a consultant
The selected consultant(s) or an agency will assist in the design, preparation and facilitation of the team building retreat as well as compiling a report outlining the workshop's proceedings, including practical recommendations and operational tools which can be used by the team in the future.

Key tasks

Consultant(s)/agency will complete the following tasks, in close consultation with BAU:
· Review of all relevant documentation pertaining to BAU team
· Draft the agenda for the one-day team building exercise
· Design and develop team building content of the retreat and related activities
· Present interactive and flexible facilitation tools and material aids for brainstorming prepared prior to the workshop
· Facilitate the retreat on 9th December 2015.
The team building exercise should be creatively organized to include strategic brainstorming sessions aimed at helping the personnel develop and articulate corporate and individual understanding oneself and their colleagues in order to achieve the retreat’s goals.

Consultants profile

· Experienced (10-15 years) management or people’s development consultant or agency
· Proven track record of facilitating team building and knowledge sharing workshops and consultancy experience.

Payments, budget and reporting

The contractor will be paid a lump sum in one installment at the end of the assignment.

HOW TO APPLY:
The consultant will be required to submit both a technical and financial proposal to Build Africa Uganda (see address given below). The technical proposal should cover:-
  1. Experience of individual / firm in relation to the team building
  2. Understanding (definition) of the purpose of the team building
  3. Methodology
  4. Activity schedule (work plan).
