Summary of the position
The Cooperation Adviser is the Delegation focal point for Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement issues and plays a key role in building and maintaining ICRC’s operational partnership with western European National Societies responding to the humanitarian needs of migrant arrivals. Reporting to the Cooperation Coordinator, he/she ensures an effective and optimal Movement response and facilitates operational coordination with the International Federation
****A previous working experience within the Movement of the Red Cross/Red Crescent (ICRC, IFRC or any National Society) is mandatory for this position.****
Main responsibilities
- Guide the ICRC Delegation in the development and maintenance of operational partnerships in domains of ICRC expertise with European National Societies, facilitating capacity building support where required.
- Foster collaborative working relationships amongst the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement actors, in line with ICRC and Movement policies.
- Manage ICRC Cooperation objectives ensuring they are closely developed with NS partners.
- Contribute to the further mainstreaming of Cooperation within ICRC, including strategic and operational layers.
- Represent the ICRC, negotiate on its behalf and promote the organization.
Ideal profile
- Master level or equivalent
- International humanitarian work experience, with the ICRC or any other Movement components (Red Cross/Red Crescent National Society and/or International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies); professional experience includes program management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French, other European languages an asset.
- Capacity building and /or organizational development experience and knowledge
- Capacity to formulate strategies and support their implementation
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, diplomacy and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work
- A demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally
- Ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment
- Flexibility to travel (up to 50% of the time will be out of office)
