Introduction
Palladium has been implementing a regional smallholder agricultural development project covering selected areas of Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho known as the Seed and Markets Project (SAMP) from 2010. Palladium is now looking to consolidate the accomplishments through SAMP 3, beginning in October 2015.
Primary responsibilities
· Undertake a detailed analysis and capacity assessment of SAMP supported SME’s
· Identify gaps and weaknesses of existing SME’s and recommend a tailored package of training, coaching and mentoring to support and facilitate the transition of community enterprise into profitable businesses.
· Assist SME’s in proposal preparation to access SAMP 3 grants
· Training and mentoring enterprise representatives in key areas of commercial enterprise development such as share-holding schemes, business planning, finance management and accounting etc
· Facilitate ‘match making’ arrangements between SAMP supported enterprises and financial lending institutions
Essential Education and Experience Required
· Preferable: Masters degree in a relevant subject such as Business Management, organizational development, Accounting or similar; Required: at least a Bachelors degree in one of the subjects outlined above;
· Demonstrated formal training in the area of Business Management and Accounting;
· A track record of at least 10 years of project and programme management experience, 5 of which as an SME specialist;
· Track record of experience of SME capacity development (in particular agro-industrial;
· Knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) and experience of mainstreaming GESI;
· Good knowledge of value for money (VFM) approaches;
Key Competencies Required
· Demonstrated understanding and experience of knowledge management and communication.
· Ability to undertake extensive travel to remote project areas
