Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in IOM Khartoum and reporting directly to the Preparedness and Response Unit Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with and supporting rapid health assessments, project development, donor engagement, coordination with donors, Government and other partners, and monitoring and tracking the implementation of emergency health interventions.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist with assessments and rapid assessments as needed to support project development.
- Coordinate with the field health Partners, MoH & the sector lead to identify areas in need of health intervention and at risk groups through the co-operation and coordination of communities.
- In close coordination with the PD unit, drafting proposal / concept notes as well as activities report to potential donors.
- Monitor and track the implementation of IOM Sudan’s overall Emergency Migration Health Programmes in close coordination with other Programme Units in IOM Sudan, and bring issues, delays and other problems to the attention of the supervisor, proposing course of action as appropriate.
- Support community-based primary health services, and contribute to the development of appropriate organizational and coordination mechanisms with health professionals within these services.
- In co-ordination with RMO, organize resources provided by donors to support projects, including financial monitoring of project budgets.
- Support the promotion of basic health education through training and supporting local community health workers to assist in surveillance and educational aspects of emergency health interventions.
- Participate and assist as appropriate in all Migration Health activities and services: Yellow fever vaccination, USA visa 93 e-medicals, USRAP e-medicals, UKTB program, fitness to travel and DNA sample collection.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Social and Medical Science from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in implementing emergency public health response in complex environments, preferably in Africa;
- Previous experience in health sector management in emergency settings;
- Experience in health systems highly desirable;
- Proficiency in Office applications, including Word and Excel, internet explorer.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
