MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES is a non-governmental organization for humanitarian aid. Today we work in more than 60 countries where our volunteers bring their aid to populations in distress, to victims of aggression and war, regardless of religion, beliefs or politics.
Project Context
MSF project in Cairo is addressing specific needs linked to violence and trauma. Our patients come from highly vulnerable groups of the migrant community. The type of medical conditions of the patients is strongly inter linked with psychological and social conditions and the medical improvement of the patient will depend on the involvement of a multidisciplinary team and the level of engagement of the medical doctor with his/her colleagues.
Main objectives
Purpose of the post
- Improve and ensure quality of patient medical care according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.
- Ensure development and implementation of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach to patient care.
- Develop standard operation procedures.
- Comply with all medical administrative and management requirements of the Project.Responsibilities
- Complete understanding and implementation of MSF protocols and procedures (which include but are not limited to SV, Infection Control, etc.) by medical staff through provision of updated resource materials, training, mentoring and supervision.
- Ensure accurate and appropriate prescription and administration of medication treatment by both medical and psychiatric doctors in compliance with MSF protocols and guidelines.
- Enhance communication skills (written and oral) of the medical team.
- Ensure physical examination methods are thorough, including training on use of medical equipment available in the Clinic.
- Ensure ongoing medical training, mentoring and supervision regarding appropriate diagnosis of the physical consequences of violence as well as appropriate use of diagnostic and imaging tests needed for assessment and documentation of violence of the patient condition.
- Support Infection Control Program and serve as Medical Referent to the Committee
- Train team on medical management of victims of violence within the MDT framework.
- Develop and maintain an updated medical library.
- In collaboration with the MDT, participate in developing operational research.
- Participate in networking with external partners.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the FGM Reconstruction activity.
Requirements
Education
Medical Doctor diploma, Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine
Experience
Minimum of 2-year experience as a Medical Doctor
Sound knowledge of Gynecology, Orthopedics, Small Surgery, Physiotherapy and Mental Health is a strong asset
Experience in working with migrants and/or in Rehabilitation of Victims of violence is desirable

Conditions
- 9 months fixed-term field contract
- Salary according to MSF-OCB Field salary scale. Transport, accommodation, vaccination are taken in charge by MSF. Per diem + medical insurance
- Expected starting date: 13st of March 2016
