Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is an African-led, regional organisation, working in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia with Board approval to expand to Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi. It brings over 25 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people, host communities and communities in urban slums.
AAH-I is looking for a suitable candidate who, will be responsible for developing and maintaining AAH-I’s capacity in humanitarian and development programming. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Programme Director (PD) is expected to contribute actively to the growth and development of the organization. S/he will provide overall leadership to the programme design and development, programme implementation oversight, AAH-I visibility and engagement with strategic stakeholders thus contributing to the delivery of AAH-I’s Mission and Vision. Qualification
¨ MA/MSc Degree in any development field: social sciences, development studies, management, education, agriculture or public health.
¨ Thorough understanding of project/programme assessment, design, monitoring, evaluation and report writing gained through at least 10 years of relevant experience in programme development and management in AAH-I or similar organization.
Skills and Competence
- Knowledge and familiarity with rules and regulations of major donors & partners: USAID, EU, Bread for the World, UNICEF, UNDP, etc.
- Demonstrated excellent stewardship of resources and able to hold others accountable.
· Proven ability in leadership, team management and strategic thinking.
· Demonstrated ability to envision programming trends and set relevant strategies;
· Previous experience working in both humanitarian assistance and development programming.
· Demonstrated ability to analyse community needs and develop effective technical specifications for intervention projects;
· Ability to provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to team members;
- Integrity, honesty, and accountability to both the quality and programming teams and the community.
