Who are we?
COC Netherlands actively contributes to the promotion of human rights for lesbian women, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people in the Netherlands, but also abroad. COC works in close partnership with more than 50 local LGBTI organisations in over 35 countries. Through our international programmes we support and strengthen the local, regional and global LGBTI movements and align efforts that contribute to the improvement of the position of LGBTI people.
International solidarity within the LGBTI movement has been one of the core values of COC Netherlands since its foundation in 1946. Our mission is to contribute to a strong international LGBTI movement able to strive towards recognition and protection of the human rights of LGBTI anywhere in the world. Crucial to our approach is local ownership; local, national and regional LGBTI communities decide which direction, pace, strategies and activities are most suitable in their own context to contribute to change. COC works in close cooperation with strategic partners among which the Dutch Government. COC Netherlands has Special Consultative Status with the United Nations since 2008 and facilitates LGBTI presence at regional and international human rights forums. COC Netherlands is a member of the international LGBTI organisation International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA), and its European branch , ILGA-Europe.
In recent years, COC's international programmes have grown substantially. For this reason we are expanding our team of International Project Managers in the next six months. Our international programmes cover many areas and include partnerships with partners and allies in South, East and West Africa, the MENA region, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean and Central America.
The office of COC Netherlands is located in the centre of Amsterdam and currently employs around 30 passionate professionals.
