The Gola Rainforest Programme is an exciting long-term initiative supporting the management of a critical landscape in Sierra Leone which is a global priority for biodiversity conservation. The RSPB is seeking a dynamic Technical Advisor to deliver the objectives of the REDD Project's Research and Monitoring components. You will have skills and experience in species conservation, natural resources management, planning, implementing workplans, and monitoring and evaluation, as well as building capacity in these areas. You will also have a strong background in conservation science/sustainability/forest conservation, be practically minded, and be passionate about conservation.
Main Duties are:
1.Assist the Gola Rainforest Programme's relevant departments with planning, budgeting, reporting and internal evaluations of the REDD Biodiversity Research and Monitoring programme, with a particular focus on capacity building, as discussed with the CTA;
2.Assist the programme's Research and Monitoring team with (but not restricted to):
a)Collaborating with key stakeholders, including other projects, NGOs and local universities, to further develop and deliver biodiversity research activities that have clear and measurable linkages to conservation objectives, focusing on inside the Gola Rainforest National Park (GRNP) as well as in the leakage belt with forest edge communities around the GRNP;
b)The development and implementation of pilot protected area co-management initiatives with stakeholder communities;
c)The development and implementation of annual, community-volunteer projects to ensure the active involvement of local communities in basic biodiversity research and monitoring;

c)Development, implementation and monitoring of information management systems dedicated to the Biodiversity Research and Monitoring programme;
d)Monitoring of operational expenditures specific to the Biodiversity Research and Monitoring Programme to ensure their alignment with approved departmental budgets;
e)Developing key relations with local and national stakeholders dedicated to biodiversity research and monitoring.
f)Maintaining good relations among the project partners and with other important stakeholders, with a particular focus on local communities.
