KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regularly monitor country safety and security situation and provide necessary emergency support to country management.
- Support team to develop emergency preparedness and responses plan considering country situation/crisis.
- Conduct country risk assessment for designing emergency response strategies and implementation of plans considering internationally accepted standard.
- Support in emergency situation and engage in post disaster need assessment and rehabilitation intervention.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative and networking partnerships with key stakeholders (local and county-wide) and community partners for involvement in emergency management activities.
- Support in programme monitoring, assessment and evaluation for ensuring emergency response.
- Develop concept notes/proposals and reports by gathering information on country situation and become familiar with the requirements and guidelines of various funders and engage in fundraising activities for the country in the field of disaster management and emergency response.
- Coordinate and follow up country programmes to ensure technical inputs for preparing concept notes, proposals, reports and presentations.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
- Substantive technically focused experience in one or more of the following subject areas: emergency response, disaster risk management, community engagement/risk assessment with participatory skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to lead and gain assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavour
- Skills on self awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to use limited resources effectively, conducting risk analysis and applying contingency measures to adjust plans and resources effectively
- Multi-ethnic work environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate/Master Degree in Social Science/ Development Studies / Disaster Management/ Geography and Environment or other comparative university degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in emergency response and disaster risk reduction.
- Experience with different aspects of project management including development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and supervision of environmental experts.
- Experience in developing proposals, budget, situation reports, action plans, brief notes and presentations.
