The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Officer, with a focus on the topic of improving dysfunctional institutions.
This newly created role aims to build upon emerging insights in behavioural economics in order to bring policy-relevant approaches to understanding the reasons for poor institutional performance and to addressing them more effectively. It builds on a recent workshop, which brought together an international network of researchers in economics and other relevant disciplines. You will prepare and develop a collaborative research programme, to include fieldwork piloting new approaches for organisational reform which can be rigorously evaluated. You will also organise and prepare for a second workshop which will engage a wider group of behavioural economists and policy practitioners.
You will have a PhD or equivalent in economics or related discipline, with an emphasis on developing countries. You will demonstrate understanding of the issues surrounding dysfunctional institutions, and have a proven ability to absorb and synthesise research in relevant disciplines. You will also be able to manage projects and build strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of and experience in Africa is strongly desirable.
This is a full-time post and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance. Please see further particulars for more information.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 7 April 2016.
