Consultant (e) National (e) - Photographe/ Local Professional Photographer, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

  1. Justification
A delegation of the Executive Board of UNICEF will conduct a field visit to Côte d'Ivoire from 4 to 8 April 2015, with the purpose of enhancing members' understanding of the extent and ways in which UNICEF is supporting Côte d'Ivoire in its nationally-led efforts to promote, protect and realise children's rights, and address different challenges. This field visit also offers Board members the opportunity to gain close insight into collaboration and coordination with the Government, as well as UNICEF partnerships with Civil Society, the private sector, and with other multilateral and bilateral agencies in the country.
UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire Country Office has been requested to document this important visit at the request of the Secretariat of the Board in coordination with the UNICEF Communication team in NYHQ-DOC. For this purpose, UNICEF CO is planning to hire a local professional photographer.
  1. Purpose and Objectives
The UNICEF country office is seeking for a professional photographer to provide photo coverage of the Executive Board visit in Cote d'Ivoire.
  1. Methodology
The Consultant will coordinate with the UNICEF Cote d'Ivoire communication team to ensure adequate coverage.
  1. Assignments, Activities, expected results and Time-frame
    a. Photographic documentation.
    b. Descriptive captions for all broad edit photos, quotes from central characters/subjects in the photo coverage
    c. Transmission of broad edit of photographs with specifications including photo format, transmission, captioning, etc., following terms as described in 'UNICEF Digital Format & Transmission Terms.v.2014' found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3txLsgQ7Qh8Q1BUWkJhZXJpRnc/view?usp=sharing
Activity 1: Field photo shooting, selection and captioning in coordination with Communication section
Result: Photo data base
Time-frame: From 04/4 to 08/4/2016
Activity 2 : selection and captioning in coordination with Communication section
Result: Selection of best photographics of each step of mission
Time-frame: 10/4/2016
  1. Reporting line : the consultant will report to the Communication Specialist, overall coordination of the media production activities
  2. Requirements (Education & Experience) :
• University degree in Communication, journalist, photo or related field
• Professional photographer
• At least 5 years of professional photographer experience working with UNICEF or comparable organizations or international media
• Ability to deliver images according to the specified technical requirements
  1. Cost of the consultancy :
    .
UNICEF to cover fees for 07 days (including 05 days of shooting in the country and 02 day of photo-selection and captioning home based) @ XOF 200.000 = XOF 1,400,000 (standard local UNICEF rate). Photo-related miscellaneous charges must be invoiced - if pre-approved by the Supervisor - must be invoiced separately from the contract fee and accompanied by the original receipt for the item
UNICEF will provide ground (or air if deemed appropriate) transportation during the field mission. UNICEF will pay to the Consultant a Daily Subsistence Allowance for the duration of the field mission at UN standard rates, and as per relevant administrative instructions on duty travel of individual contractors.
The Consultant will be paid in Franc CFA (XOF) at the end of his/her assignment upon submission of invoices and travel claim, certification of the deliverables and satisfactory completion of the assignment.
  1. Working conditions
Consultant will supply photographic equipment and agrees to provide, if requested, transmissions of rough edit selections of best images, with complete caption information. UNICEF has first selection rights to all originals taken on this assignment with non-exclusive concomitant world rights in all media in perpetuity. On assignment completion, the broad edit will be transferred to DVD or portable drive with the UNICEF office: UNICEF/IVC/Communication Specialist with complete captions.
  1. Specific instructions :
Administrative formalities: The Consultant will provide a duly completed Health Statement and a Certificate of Good Health Condition. The Consultant is also responsible to provide a proof of medical insurance coverage for the duration of the contract and will complete the Designation of Beneficiary form for MAIP, a vendor form, and provide his bank details.
UNICEF recourse in case of unsatisfactory performance: Payment will only be made for work satisfactorily completed and accepted by UNICEF.
