We seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate as part of an interdisciplinary project entitled Abrupt Changes in Ecosystem Services and Wellbeing in Mozambican Woodlands (ACES) led by the School of GeoSciences.
ACES examines how woodland loss is changing ecosystem services and wellbeing of the rural poor in Mozambique. This 4-year, £2M interdisciplinary project is funded by the Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) Programme and commenced in 2013. Data collection is now complete, and we wish to appoint a PDRA to work on the integration phase of the project. Specifically, the post holder will work on an analysis of linkages between rural wellbeing, the use of ecosystem services and the structure and function of the ecosystem. This will predominantly be a quantitative analysis, but could be complemented by qualitative and mixed-method approaches.
The post holder will join three PDRAs at the University of Edinburgh and collaborate with two PDRAs in Mozambique, as well as academics in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and UK, and policy specialists from IIED. Full details at: https://miomboaces.wordpress.com
You will have a PhD in an appropriate discipline and experience of working with similar data sets. We seek candidates with an interest in inter-disciplinary working, and a commitment to both social and bio-physical sciences will be required.
This post is full time and fixed term for 12 months starting 01 May 2016 or at another mutually agreed date. International applicants are welcome, and familiarity with rural sub-Saharan Africa will be an advantage.
Closing Date: Friday 15th April 2016 at 5pm (GMT).
