Deputy Country Director
Oxfam is a leading International NGO working to end poverty and injustice. We work directly with communities and we seek to influence the powerful to ensure that poor people can improve their lives and livelihoods and have a say in decisions that affect them. Our humanitarian, development and campaigning projects change lives around the world. It is an exciting time to join Oxfam South Sudan, as it enters the final stages of its transition to One Oxfam, merging affiliates and activities in country to provide a fully integrated programme.
The Role
The Deputy Country Director will work in collaboration with the Country Director to provide strategic leadership to develop and deliver the South Sudan country strategy. The role will be responsible for the ongoing programme planning and development, donor representation, and management and capacity building of Oxfam’s geographical programmes and technical advisory support to ensure high quality standards, in line with Oxfam’s strategies and operational plans.
A key aspect to the role will be to ensure a strong link and mainstreaming of activities between the assigned departments, maximising their performance and effective use of resources through coordination and strategic guidance. About You
To be successful you will need to have significant experience of developing and managing large programmes in complex environments, with experience of obtaining and managing large scale funding to support activities. In addition you will have a good understanding of Business Support Services and Programme Quality functions and their integration to programming. You will be a skilled communicator with ability to influence at all levels with internal and external stakeholders. You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff, and bring together diverse teams to work towards shared priorities. The ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment, and a good understanding of and experience in fast-paced and difficult contexts will be essential for this role.
