Expert (m/f) for technical and social issues – focus: civil engineering
in Boga, Democratic Republic of Congo
The position is to be filled as soon as possible with an initial contract duration until 30 September 2017. Employment location will be Boga, Central African Republic. Duty trips will be required.
Job objectives and tasks
As expert (m/f) for technical and social issues, you will support and advise the head or project with road building activities in a rural setting in fragile states based on a labour intensive approach (cash for work). Furthermore, you will manage the Welthungerhilfe satellite office in Boga.
Your most important tasks:
- Set up building sites and supply them in line with the foreseen project budget
- Organization and supervision of building teams (ensuring the participation of women)
- Monitor the proper use of material
- Approve all payments to labourers
- Verify all paperwork related to the Boga office, including finance, procurement and administration, ensuring compliance with Welthungerhilfe and donor regulations
- Oversee the agricultural activities in the Boga region
- Manage the Welthungerhilfe team in the Boga office
- Being the focal point for stakeholders and the general coordination with the Welthungerhilfe office in Beni
As a qualified applicant, you possess:
- A university/university of applied sciences degree in engineering or a comparable specialised qualification suitable to the position
- Several years of project experience in civil engineering and office management for international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region
- Experience in WASH would be an asset
- Ability to manage and work in a team
- Good mental and physical resilience and willingness for duty trips in rural areas
- Co-ordination and organisation skills even under heavy work pressure
- A very good oral and written command of French and English is mandatory
