The Senior Researcher manages the successful delivery of research projects related to the designated Topic especially in political economics and infrastructure; undertakes research design, data collection and analysis and produces reports, manages the research department group as and when necessary, leads and delivers strategic projects for the research department group.

Your tasks: 
  • Scientific Strategy and Research Process
  • Leads research activities and projects related to the Topic within DOC Research Institute;
  • Develops own or research group work, interprets research findings and generates high quality publications;
  • Contributes to the development of the research strategies within DOC Research Institute;
  • Prepares reports and presents information related to the Topic within the Research Department;
  • Drafts texts for discussions and reports including the background research necessary for these documents;
  • Leads preparation of academic papers, working papers, produced by DOC Research Institute and other written materials as necessary;
  • Writes research briefs related to the designated Topic and if necessary undertakes primary research to assist to Research Director;
  • Together with other Senior Researchers implements a dissemination strategy to circulate the research products of the Department to the academic and policy community;
  • Provides performance of research projects and initiatives in accordance with timeline and within approved budget;
  • Develops and maintains contact databases;
  • Undertakes an ongoing review of activities and adjusting projects and initiatives in order to maximize the quality of outputs.
  • DOC Research Institute’s Representation
  • Leads and develops internal and external networks;
  • Represents DOC Research Institute in a professional manner at all times, including links with professional bodies, research funding streams, etc;
  • Represents the Organization’s research at international conferences and other events, liaising closely with external bodies/experts both within the EU and non-EU countries. 
Events Organization: 
  • Contributes in event organization, including meetings, conferences and seminars of DOC Research Institute;
  • In accordance with the designated Topic contributes to the development of the scientific program for the Rhodes forum and other DOC Research Institute’s key events according to the established internal policies;
  • Drafts list of experts and scientists engaged in the Topic for the Rhodes forum and other DOC Research Institute’s key events;
  • Controls the process of invitation to the Rhodes forum and other DOC Research Institute’s key events 
Requirements: 
  • Master’s Degree in Politics, Economics or Social sciences required; Ph.D. preferred
  • More than 5 years in research and scientific work
  • Track record of research and scientific publications
  • Functioning as successful research group member and representative of the Organization’s vision & idea
  • Solid background in social & cultural sciences; extensive research experience;
  • Experience working with a variety of public, private, and non-profit organizations
  • Experience in project management, policy advice, as well as in handling the project funds
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in building positive and productive relationships, with colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Familiarity with research agenda
  • Experience in field work and documentation
  • Demonstrable evidence of strong written and oral communications skills
  • Proficiency in English language, knowledge of at least one other language (Chinese, Arabic, French, German) is an advantage
  • Excellent analytic, writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with large databases
  • Knowledge of major web search engines that index the full text or metadata of scholarly literature and other publications
  • Professional, enthusiastic, hard-working and “can do” attitude
  • Capable of independently managing time and the tasks associated with a fast-paced research agenda and strong organizational objectives
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
