Purpose of the Position
The Corporate Alliance Officer reports to the Partnerships Manager to achieve the targets stated in the Resource Mobilization and Leveraging Strategy and Plan.
Under the general guidance of the Chief of Communication and Partnerships, and the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Corporate Alliance Officer supports private sector fundraising, specifically the development and execution of donor acquisition (creating financial and non-financial partnerships) and relationship management.
Key Expected Results
The Fundraising Officer is to support the Partnerships Manager to create partnerships and raise (more) funds for the Country Programme.
The incumbent of the post is expected to recommend engagement or otherwise with corporate entities after ensuring due process has been followed in terms of analysing corporate profile, brand fit, risk and governance issues. He/She will also recommend technical institutional collaborations and partnerships with other like-minded organizations, corporate bodies, industry bodies and government institutes.
Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks
Corporate Relations/Partnerships Management: Identifying and scoping potential corporate partners in line with South Africa County Office (SACO's) programme priorities and section needs and developing MOUs and programme concept notes with inputs from the relevant sections. Effective and timely professional management of corporate partnerships and relations with potential, existing and past corporate partners. Build capacity of corporate partners in Children Rights and Business Principles including innovative approaches to supporting child rights among business operations.
Internal Corporate Engagement Liaison and Documentation: tracking internal needs for potential corporate engagement initiatives and innovations. Facilitate documentation and sharing of lessons of South Africa's best practices in CSR and children's rights as part of building organisations capacity on policy and programme delivery. Develop best practices documentation that will provide input towards UNICEF-country, regional and global CSR engagement.
Advocacy and Technical inputs on CSR: in line with UNICEFs strategic Framework on CSR and promoting implementation of the Child Rights and Business Principles and tools: Advocacy with Government of South Africa, industry bodies and national think tanks on CSR/Business Responsibility. Providing technical inputs to and managing strategic alliances with technical partnerships including capacity building.
Developing the South Africa Resource and Mobilization Strategy: as a main advocacy tool towards achieving programmatic results, annual work plan, budget, periodic updates, financial reporting and other documentation as needed. Ensure that the elaboration of strategy paper and annual work plan is timely executed and followed up to support country programme priorities, regional and global directives.
Participate and contribute to other office wide initiatives and events.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Education
Advanced University degree in one or more disciplines relevant in the following areas: Development, Marketing, Communication, Economics, CSR or Business Administration. Sound and up-to-date knowledge of corporate partnership management and corporate social responsibility as well as sustainability. A first level University degree with relevant years of working experience may be exceptionally accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the relevant field or seven years of progressive work experience in consulting/programme development with particular focus on CSR, Corporate Partnerships, Fund Raising, Marketing, communication activities.
Language Requirements; Fluent written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
