Project Manager Yemen (m/f) for our Programme Middle East & North Africa

Main tasks:
In coordination with the Programme Director and Co-Director, the Project Manager is expected to
  • Manage the overall functioning of the project “Supporting a Peaceful Solution, Political Dialogue and Transition in Yemen 2017-18”
  • Act as focal point and ensure coordination between partners, project team and BF administration
  • Liaise with respective partner(s), external experts, Yemeni stakeholders and international organisations
  • Support in the development of new projects in the MENA region
  • Lead in narrative reporting and activity-related financial planning with assistance from the project managers and assistants
  • Take over oversight functions and provide guidance to project assistants Take on responsibilities regarding the organisational development of the Programme
  • Perform additional tasks upon request of Programme (Co-)Directors
Qualifications:
  • M.A. degree or equivalent in political science, peace studies or related fields
  • Proven expertise and work experience (minimum of 3 years) in the respective thematic field
  • Excellent knowledge of and proven work experience in the Arab region, preferably Yemen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German language; Arabic skills are an asset
Additional Skills
  • Good networker with the ability to engage with political leadership, but also with civil society actors
  • Empathetic to partners and target groups
  • Ability to work under time-pressure and in quickly changing and demanding situations
The full-time position (40hrs/week) will be based in Berlin, Germany for a period of 21 months (extendable), starting as soon as possible. Frequent travels are requested.
