War Child Holland’s programme in the D.R. Congo
War Child Holland (WCH) has been working in the DRC since 2003 with its country office based in Bukavu, South Kivu. WCH has three field bases in Walungu, Kalehe and Fizi territories, with interventions in three key thematic areas of child protection, psychosocial support, and education being carried out in 32 communities in Walungu, Bukavu, Mwenga, Kabare, Kalehe and Fizi territories of South Kivu province as well as in Kinshasa. The interventions are carried out through a participatory community-based approach that seeks to strengthen existing systems and structures within the communities to (re)create a stable, safe, and supportive environment for children.
Your challenge
As the Grant Manager (GM) you are responsible for strategic guidance on fundraising and effective coordination of all grant management at country level.
Fundraising and proposal development
  • Develop country and regional fundraising strategy;
  • Coordinate donor mapping and screening of opportunities;
  • Planning of acquisitions and development of concept notes and proposals.
    Grant management
  • Ensure clear and effective grant administration;
  • Control and support implementation of compliance requirements;
  • Coordinate and support Grant meetings and relevant audits and evaluations.
Networking and strategic partnerships
  • Identify and establish relations with key donors;
  • Manage identification and screening of potential partners, sub grantees and consortium members.
    Capacity building staff & local partners
  • Built grant management capacity of country teams and partner organisations.

    Your profile
  • 3+ years relevant experience in fundraising and managing relations with partners/donors;
  • Experience in development of fundraising strategies;
  • Proven track record in fundraising with governments, corporates, multilaterals and /or major donors;
  • Experience in facilitating training in fundraising and resource development as well as mentoring/coaching;
  • Excellent proposal writing skills;
  • Fluency in French and English (verbal and written);
  • University Degree in relevant discipline (social sciences, political science, international relations and development studies etc.).

Job Location: Bukavu, DR Congo
Contract: 1 year contract with the intention to prolong
Starting Date: As soon as possible
DR Congo is a non-family duty station. The expatriate is allowed to bring a partner under the condition that he/she is employed or will be employed by a humanitarian organization. The expatriate is not allowed to bring children.
