The Oxfam Confederation is made up of 17 Oxfam affiliates (including Oxfam GB) working across 92 countries. In 2009, all Oxfam affiliates decided to work more closely together as a global movement for change. Oxfam GB has been working in South Sudan since 1983. We aim to overcome poverty and inequality through the most effective, appropriate and enduring solutions. Oxfam’s institutional mandate is therefore threefold; development work, emergency humanitarian relief work & policy advocacy work. Oxfam South Sudan is currently implementing humanitarian response programs and Development Programmes in different parts of the country.
The Role
Oxfam South Sudan is implementing a four year resilience programme in Malakal, Uror and Twic East counties with funding from DFID under the title Humanitarian Assistance and Resilience in South Sudan (HARISS). The purpose of this post is to manage and ensure delivery of DFID HARRIS programme gender justice objectives, meet donor requirements, ensure programme learning on gender justice is effective, engage with external (particulalry those implementing DFID HARRIS programs) and Oxfam level institutions for learning and influence; and to provide appropriate Gender advice to programme : Spearhead the implementation of the WEMAN /GALS methodology ( An Oxfam developed and documented tool for main streaming gender equality in long term programming) .

To be successful in this role you will have a bachelor degree in Social science/ Law/Development/Gender studies/ International studies OR in any other relevant field. You will have experience of project management and implementation, including the management and implementation of Gender Justice Projects. You should have a good understanding of power relations and dynamics at community level in conflict and post war situations. You should also be willing to work under pressure in a demanding environment. You should be able to demonstrate high quality Training, interpersonal and presentation skills. Preferably, you would have knowledge of DFID agenda and priorities in relation to Gender Justice. Experience in South Sudan would be an added value.
