Background: The purpose of the upcoming program is to improve the workforce readiness skills of Tunisian youth by support the establishment and/or strengthening of university-based career development centers. Key program components include soft skills development, civic engagement, leadership and small grants.

Location: Tunis, Tunisia with frequent travel to multiple project sites.
General Description:
The Civic Engagement Specialist provides technical expertise to participating Career Centers. The project will develop and/or strengthen Career Centers based on and adapting tools from World Learning’s existing model, and work with Tunisian youth with disabilities, university students, universities, and Tunisian civil society organizations (CSOs) to provide youth and students the skills and experience needed to constructively address social problems within their communities. The Civic Engagement Specialist will develop relationships with local CSOs in project communities, build the understanding and skills of youth and students so that they can serve in CSOs, and build the capacity of CSOs to incorporate youth and students into their work and decision making.
Specific Responsibilities:
§ Assist in developing and overseeing the creation of a directory of local CSOs at project sites
§ Develop outreach plan to engage local CSOs at project sites in collaboration with Career Centers
§ Provide training and mentoring for Career Center staff, youth with disabilities and university students on topics such as leadership, communication, employment and action planning.
§ Provide mentoring to CSOs related to incorporating youth with disabilities and university students into their work as volunteers, interns or staff
§ Provide mentoring to CSOs related to incorporating voices of youth and students into decision making
§ Monitor assigned project implementation and ensure project progress toward required goals
§ Liaise with external and internal stakeholders
§ Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
§ Demonstrated understanding of youth employment and volunteering with CSOs
§ Experience working in or volunteering with an Tunisian CSO
§ Ability to travel frequently within Tunisia
§ English and Arabic language proficiency
§ University degree
§ Excellent oral and written communication skills
§ Ability to coordinate people and processes
Desired Qualifications:
§ Familiarity with issues affecting youth with disabilities, women, or disadvantaged groups
§ Experience with leveraging online social networking for professional projects
§ French language proficiency
