ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Financial Systems Development Services (FIDES) AG is a private company with headquarters in Fribourg, Switzerland. Its mission is to create, manage, and fund sustainable MFIs accessible to customers excluded from the existing banking system. It works with financial institutions and civil society initiatives mainly in Africa. FIDES implements and supports financial institutions in rural areas through technical and institutional innovations for the development of sustainable financial services even in areas where population density is relatively low.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
FIDES is seeking a General Manager. S/he will be responsible for the creation and/or the development of one of organization's new MFIs. S/he will work closely with and under supervision of the organization's management team at organization's headquarter.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Strategy design and implementation;
  • Implement of the business plan including the achievement of the key performance indicators;
  • Build the systems of the new institution within a greenfielding process;
  • Report to the board of directors, the audit committee, and the shareholders;
  • Ensure compliance with the legal and regulatory framework of the country, the requirements of the supervisory authorities and the norms of the operational policy guidelines;
  • Team creation and capacity building;
  • Staff management;
  • Understand client demand and markets;
  • Development of products and delivery mechanisms.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in management responsibilities;
  • At least 5 years of experience in microfinance operations in developing countries;
  • In-depth practical knowledge and hands on experience in building financial services for low income population segments;
  • Proven track record in successful MFI building;
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Practical knowledge on financial service delivery and marketing;
  • Problem solver, leadership by example;
  • High level of integrity and value driven approach;
  • Motivation to work in rural areas and to be present in the field;
  • Good written and spoken English;
  • Understanding of and commitment to mission and values of organization.
