Manager of the Languages Team at Beyond Violence

Do you have good management skills? Do you have an interest in various languages worldwide? Do you have a passion for combating violence in the world bit by bit as part of a global movement? Then Beyond Violence is precisely the organisation you will be interested in!
Beyond Violence is centered around a web platform which seeks to engage people across countries and continents in the promotion of non-violent conflict transformation. Through online petitionscampaigns, forum discussions creative discussion, digital conferencesmultimedia interaction, and much more, we are impacting decision-makers and key local actors to put down weapons and solve conflict through negotiation and dialogue.
Your responsibilities
  • · Managing and distributing tasks to our translation teams.
  • · Making sure that Ensuring timely provision of translations are done in a timely manner for all our online content.
  • · Maintaining high-level quality of current language translations.
  • · Expansion of breadth of provided languages, particularly to include languages from countries campaigns are being conducted in.
  • · Communicating with the subteam leaders (translation teams).
  • · Participating in the management of Beyond Violence, particularly through email and in regular online Skype meetings with other team leaders managers (twice a month).
  • · Coordinating your tasks with other team leaders (especially with campaigns, blogs team and social media teams).
  • · Recruiting and hiring new translators and proofreaders, as well as conducting interviews for new positions.
  • · Managing your time effectively in order to complete your tasks within the hours that you want to contribute (estimated at 10 hrs per week).
Our requirements
  • · Communicative level of English.
  • · An organized approach to work, preferably with some management and recruitment experience.
  • · Experience in working with languages through text editing or translation.
  • · Proactive use of email communication and Skype.
  • · Ability to commit sufficient time and energy to our cause.
  • · Passion for peace, non-violence, dialogue and understanding.
  • · Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
