Construction Manager - Wind Energy – Eastern Cape / Northern Cape / Cape Town

Our Clients, all globally well-known Renewable Energy specialist execution companies, are looking to add a Construction Manager to their dynamic team which will be based onsite in the Eastern, Northern and/or Western Cape.
The successful candidate will manage one or two utility scale wind farm(s) from construction up to COD and commissioning which will include all site activities, management, monitoring wind turbine erections and commissioning. S/he will be responsible for overseeing all civil and electrical activities, health & safety, quality as well as managing onsite sub-contractors and relevant stakeholders.
Furthermore, s/he will need to possess excellent logistics and time management skills to coordinate the transport of materials to and from site and be the first point of contact for all relevant stakeholders including site personnel, clients, suppliers and at times local community members.
The incumbent will diligently generate and store all relevant site documentation and report to the Project Manager on progress, quality and safety issues and other activities.
This role is a 2 year contract, with the strong possibility of becoming permanent based on performance and the future roll-out of projects.
Requirements
  • A Construction, Civil or Electrical qualification preferred
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in project implementation and at tleast 3 years’ construction management, specifically in civil construction on power plants
  • Previous wind farm experience would be ideal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (communication and leadership) with the ability to interact with a diverse group of people and cultures
  • Exceptional technical and report writing skills, with an equal ability to provide strong and firm leadership
  • Fluent in English; verbal and written, other African languages a plus (including Afrikaans)
  • Experience in communicating with and managing key stakeholders
  • Understanding of the wind energy regulatory framework as well as knowledge of the REIPP would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of safety and other government regulations, specifically Eskom
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Willing to be based on site full-time and work after hours when required
  • Ability to work independently with support from project management
