EDUCATION PROJECT MANAGER

CARE is seeking a talented Education Project Manager who will provide overall leadership and direction for a for a USAID funded Somali Youth Leadership Initiative (SYLI) under the Urban Youth program. The incumbent will work closely with the consortium lead Mercy Corps and other consortium partners to deliver the project. He/she will work very closely with the ministry of Education in Somaliland, Puntland and the Federal Government and liaising with other key project stakeholders to deliver this highly complex project. She/he will be responsible for the consortium management, reporting to the donor, contract and grant management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Project delivery
  • Contract management and compliance
  • Staff management
  • Monitoring and reporting
  • Coordination and representation
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Coordinator
Primary Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in the field of education
  • Must demonstrate at least 5 years’ work experience in developing countries, including in conflict-affected environments
  • Excellent written and oral communication and facilitation skills
  • Team player, who is able to develop strong collaborative relations across the organization, in both the program and program support departments
  • Good leadership and negotiating skills
  • Strong gender and conflict analysis skills, and the ability to articulate and design programs using a rights based approach
  • Proven budgeting and financial management skills
  • Ability to work and live under difficult conditions
