Position Summary
IREX seeks a Gender Advisor for the USAID-funded Egypt Higher Education Partnerships Program. The program seeks to strengthen Egyptian higher education institutions and enhance their ability to develop a globally competitive Egyptian workforce by supporting 15 to 20 partnerships between universities, technical colleges, and the private sector in Egypt and the United States, and to provide technical assistance to the Egyptian public higher education system. The Gender Advisor will promote gender equality throughout program activities and foster productive collaboration with program counterparts.
The position is contingent on funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement policies and procedures that are related to gender issues in Egypt
- Conduct a gender assessment, focusing on gender awareness
- Promote, design, implement and manage gender equality activities across all program components
- Provide expertise in gender equality and female empowerment for the program, stakeholders and USAID
- Contribute to the distribution of best practices and lessons learned in gender mainstreaming, equality, and female empowerment among program participants and counterparts
- Working with the leadership team, develop training materials and train project staff in gender policies and procedures
- Make recommendations for how the program staff can move forward to improve gender equity and gender responsive programming.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience working on donor funded projects with at least 5 years' experience focusing on gender analysis and gender mainstreaming
- Demonstrated understanding of the Egyptian context for gender-related issues and female empowerment and the Egyptian political environment
- At least a Bachelor's Degree in gender studies or related field
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in gender equality and participatory development practices
- Prior experience with a USAID funded program preferred
- Outstanding interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills required
- Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and proficiency in Arabic required
