Job Description

PATH’s work in Mozambique focuses on improving the health, nutrition, and development of the youngest vulnerable children 0–3 years and their caregivers. We build the capacity of both governmental and nongovernmental partners to ensure that children and their caregivers receive a holistic package of services. PATH is currently implementing two projects and working in three districts of Maputo Province and has received funding for scaling up an Early Childhood Development project (S-ECD) in remaining districts of the province. We are looking for a Monitoring & Evaluation Associate (M&E Associate ) who will support PATH projects in the province through working directly with the Health Facilities, with the SDSMAS and with other government and non- government organizations of the various districts of Maputo Province. Under the supervision of PATH Mozambique Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) the M&E Associate will have among other the following duties:

  • Support with the establishment of a capable M&E system for the projects, including contribution to the design of project indicators, tools for data collection, storage, analysis of data and its publication.
  • Work with Health Facilities and SDSMAS staff of the districts covered by the project to contribute towards quality of health and ECD data and monthly reports produced.
  • Ensure data compilation & reports in order to provide information for Project management.
  • Collaborate in producing information for the management of the project, implementing partners, and any interested parties.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen activities and participate on training of the health facility staff in the M&E areas associated with the project.
  • Collaborate with team members, government workers e partners in the planning of PATH project activities.
  • Collaborate in the implementation of studies, surveys and activities associated with evaluations of PATH projects.
  • Work with implementation partners and any interested parties in data analysis meetings and contribute in identifying corrective actions and implementation of the same.
  • Contribute in the synthesis and disclose important results of the project, lessons learned and developed methodologies etc.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings with implementing partners when required.
  • Collaborate in M&E activities of any other PATH projects in Mozambique whenever necessary.


Required Skills

  • Strong conceptual analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with partner organizations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Fluency in English, oral and written.
  • Fluency in Ronga / Changana , oral.
  • Fluency in Portuguese oral and written.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Required Experience

Higher education in Statistics, Geography, Social Science or professional Education in Health area or similar, at least 2 years of work experience in an NGO or international agency in the area of Monitoring and Evaluation of development projects, preferably in the health area, experience of work and Knowledge of Health information system and Módulo Básico, experience in the organization and facilitation of trainings,willingness to travel in the districts of Maputo province up to 60% of working time, knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including research, experienced user of a statistical software package (SPSS, EPI-INFO, STATA or similar), motorcycle Driving license and experience on driving (motorcycle will be the main means of transport for some activities of the field). 

You must currently have legal authorization to work in Mozambique.
