Project Manager (Swaziland)

Reporting to the Deputy Director and Principal Investigator, the Project Manager (PM)provides broad managerial support to the planning and implementation of a project to strengthen the national epidemiologic and research capacity of the Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland by liaising with partners and local organizations. Manages the development of work plans, the monitoring of project implementation, and project-related reporting. Plays a key role in ensuring that project activities are effectively supported in the technical, programmatic, financial, and administrative domains.
Please note this position is contingent upon project award and funding.

Major Accountabilities

  • Manage activities that build capacity for the Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland’s Epidemiology & Surveillance Unit within the Ministry of Health, Health Research Unit, Central Statistical Office within the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development and to support the Health Research Training Program and SwazilandAIDS Health Indicators Survey (SAHIS) administration
  • Lead ICAP’s work to route, review and approve project-related grant actions
  • Triage and coordinate the development of responses to requests from the funder, including annual (or more periodic) work plans, budgets, and progress reports
  • Support the development and execution of sub-agreements with collaborating partners
  • Manage the logistics, content, and evaluation of project -related meetings, conferences, trainings, and workshops
  • Perform other related duties as directed

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, or management

Experience, Skills & Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of project management experience, preferably in southern Africa
  • Excellent communication, writing, and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with donors, implementing partners, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a team
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally in English

Experience, Skills & Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience in southern Africa strongly preferred
