The Academy of a leading international aid charity seeks a Research & Development Officer. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development and maintaining research relationships with academics and researchers, coordinating the administration of the research and development department and developing and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The individual will support the development and maintenance of relationships with global universities, researchers and academies.
S/he will be working with the Research and Development team to design and develop research projects that address IR’s family needs in particular and the broader development sector in general. The candidate will be responsible to improve and manage the existing induction programme for researchers who engage with the Research and Development Department. The individual will be the lead in developing the website, e-library portal and other ICT based tools and to produce periodic progress reports for online publication and blogs. S/he will lead the production of all research-based publications and output including but not limited to research reports, case studies, speeches and presentations. The post holder will also assist IR managers, departments and the organisation to identify individual, group and organisational research project needs.
The Candidate should have a proven understanding of the research process and a minimum qualification to a Master’s level in a field appropriate to the post. S/he should have knowledge of the principles and methods of quantitative and qualitative research methods. The post holder will have the knowledge and experience of working with researchers of all levels, including postgraduate students, independent researchers up to senior career academics. The Candidate should have a high calibre of understanding about the research process, ideally with evidence of scholarly research output in ranked publications. S/he must have previous experience of working within research environments, preferably in university and the humanitarian development sector. The individual must also have excellent written and spoken English with excellent levels of computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
